The search for Mr. and Ms. Teen Culture have concluded on Friday December 9, 2022 in a pageant held at the Aringay Amphitheater in Barangay Poblacion, Aringay, La Union. This a project by the Municipal Tourism and Culture Office and the Sangguniang Kabataan hailed as Mr. Teen Culture Aringay 2022 was Male candidate No. 11 James Sumakey of Manga while Female Candidate 5 Ashley Jewel Estacion of Sta. Lucia was Ms. Teen Culture Aringay 2022.

Sumakey also garnered the special awards such as Best Actor, Mr. Photogenic, Mr. LUPMC and Mr. Farmville. Estacion garnered all major special awards such Best in Casual Wear, Best in School Uniform, Best in Sports Wear and Best in Filipiniana and a slew of other special awards.

The first runners up were Christian Dale Bernardez representing San Simon East and Elaiza Jean Dacuag representing San Simon West.

Winning second runners up were Jerry Soliweg who represented Sta. Rita East and Marie Jhoy Yaris of Dulao

The affair was attended by Municipal Officials led by Mayor Benjamin O. Sibuma, Vice-Mayor Isabel D. Diaz, Sangguniang Bayan Members, SK officials, Barangay Officials, Department Head, employees and stakeholders. The occasion was higlighted by inspirational speeches from Ms. Joy Ann Gurtiza, Provincial Culture and Arts Officer and SK Provincial Federation President Allysa B. Sibuma.

Ms. Gurtiza lauded Aringay for being in the forefront of promoting culture. She said that “by bringing people together in cultural activities such as festivals, fairs, performing arts presentations and pageants , we create social solidarity and cohesion, fostering social inclusion and community participation and empowerment, and capacity building. These enhance further confidence, civic pride and tolerance.

Ms. Allysa Sibuma called on the SK Presidents of the different barangays of Aringay on-stage and she proudly announced how the SK of the Municipality is working hard to promote inclusive cultural activities.

Mr. Teen Culture Aringay, James Sumakey is a proud Indigenous People Member of the Municipality. He advocated raising awareness among the public about responsible engagement among IP – self-determination and identity, participation and inclusion. He stressed that in Aringay, the IPs despite their ethnic origins, they consider themselves as Ilocanos.

On the other hand, Miss Teen Culture Aringay 2022 said

“Everyone has a dream but acting on it is a choice.” And by joining the contest, she would like to solidify her God-given talents. She advocated for youth empowerment. She is of the belief that young people are capable of incredible things. When young people have exposure to inspiring ideas and opportunities and the tools to build their confidence – they can take on anything and everything. She said that the Mr. and Miss Teen Culture Aringay 2022 Competition had all the ingredients of capacity and confidence building among the youth. All are winners in their own rights!

The pageant was handled by the Tourism and Culture Office of Aringay and the Sangguniang Kabataan. It was presented by Nhoie Tenerife Coutoure, Styled by Kit-Kat Melo, Cleo TV Plus, Vice-Mayor Isabel D. Diaz, Ex- Mayor Eric O. Sibuma and LNB President Lorma L. Sibuma, SBM Josephine M. Dacanay, SBM Karl Ong, Eva Alex M. Fortes, Geovani Ogurida and friends, Country Waters powered by SBJC Builders, Mirriam Temones, Ms. Divina Dulay Mamaril, Louella Manongdo Dulay and Jay De Vera.

Judges to the affair were the following:

3. David Natanawan – beauty connoisseur and National Director/ Owner of Mr. United Continents

6. David De Guzman – School Cultural Head

7. Bona Rulloda-Pacis – entrepreneur and beauty consultant
